Transitional Service and Transitional Employment

The Clubhouse's Transitional Employment Program offers job placements at minimum wage or higher, drawn from a wide variety of business or work settings in the community. Positions are part-time and generally limited to 15-20 hours per week and six to nine months in duration. TEP provides:

  • On site training and support is provided by Clubhouse staff.
  • The Clubhouse guarantees employers that the job will be done by the assigned member, a back-up member or by a staff person, if necessary.
  • The Clubhouse also offers guidance in setting Career Goals, and support and assistance in locating and maintaining permanent employment.

Spring City Corner Clubhouse members face extraordinary difficulties in leading vocationally productive lives. Our Vocational Day Program helps members return to a productive, fulfilling life in the community. Clubhouse members receive:

Community-Based Assessment
A comprehensive assessment determines what community-based services are optimal for each member. The assessment includes:

  • On-the-job evaluation within Clubhouse's work departments
  • Interviews with the member and their significant others, family, and friends
  • Assessment of job skills and learning styles
  • Identification of necessary community supports

Comprehensive Job-Seeking Skills
Clubhouse evaluates and trains its members on skills they need to seek employment, including:
  • Resume development
  • In-depth completion of applications
  • Interviewing
  • Phone etiquette
  • Dressing for work

Work Adjustment Training and Job Development
Members, with our job coach, develop an individualized Work Adjustment Training Plan to develop and/or improve necessary work skills and behaviors. Training may include:
  • Role modeling of Clubhouse members and staff during the daily work department activities
  • Job coaches train the member on-site, job shadowing with the member for up to a week
  • Define living skills and behaviors related to work performance
  • Contact with employer
  • Follow-up for 90 days after employment or according to plan

Job Coaching
Job coaching is available on an individualized basis, increasing the member's opportunity for success. This can include:
  • Visits to the job site by the job coach
  • Assistance in learning job skills
  • Developing tools such as duty schedules, checklists, or reminder sheets

Ongoing Support
Clubhouse provides various types of ongoing support for members when other services end, including:
  • Ongoing support from our Employment Specialist
  • Monthly Job Support Dinners where working members share their experiences and support
  • Ongoing participation within the Clubhouse departments and activities
