COMPASS: Treatment for Sexualized Behaviors
St. Aemilian-Lakeside's COMPASS program services are holistic treatment
options within the Residential Treatment program for boys age 6-15
with sexualized behaviors. For more information on COMPASS, including admissions, please contact
the Residential Treatment Program Coordinator at (414) 463-1880.
The COMPASS program guides and directs participants to:
- Understand and change their harmful sexual behavior
- Learn new and non-hurtful ways of dealing with their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors
- Develop a relapse prevention plan to avoid new offenses
- Develop an individualized plan for ongoing services and support upon return to the community
- Address the treatment issues of boys who themselves have been victimized
Therapeutic Interventions. Individualized. Intensive.
For The Child:
- Assessment by an MSW and treatment team
- Sexual offending group therapy
- Individual therapy
- Behavior self control group
- Social skills group
- Anger management group
- 24-hour supervision by trained staff, individual rooms, and
security systems to ensure safety
For The Family:
- Family therapy, available in the home
- Parent education and support groups
- Intensive parent training sessions
- Family social events
Treatment Focus
All components of the service -- including individual, group,
and family therapy -- focus on the following treatment issues:
- Denial and Minimization in Sexual Offending and Sexual Abuse
- Sexuality Education: Sexual Values Clarification/Sexual Development
- Social Skills, Communication, Self-Esteem Building
- Cognitive Distortion; Thinking Errors
- Anger Management
- Victim Awareness, Empathy Training
- The Assault Cycle
- Identification of Risk Factors for Lapse and Relapse
- Reduction of Deviant Arousal
- Detailed Relapse Prevention Plan
- Written Transition and Aftercare Plan for Community Reintegration
- Coordination of Community Resources for Ongoing Support and
Supervision
