Overview

School Based Services provide prevention-focused community mental health program that help students whose emotional or behavioral challenges are significantly impacting school performance. School Based Services focus on early intervention to prevent students from needing to seek more costly and intensive treatment outside their home school district.

Goals of School Based Services:

  • Help the student function successflly in the school environment
  • Avoid alternative placements for the student
  • Link the student to additional services when needed


Student Services
Assessment of each student's needs is completed and intergrated into the development of individualized treatment goals

Individual and group therapy sessions take place weekly in the student's own school. These sessions may address:

  • decision making
  • self-responsibility
  • anger management
  • social skills
  • stress management
  • conflict resolution
  • respectful communication
  • positive peer/adult relationships
  • problem solving
  • self control
  • positive coping skills

Family
Family therapy is structured to support the student's school success

Teacher Consultation
Teacher consultation and support to create interventions for student success in the classroom


Consultation & Staff Development Services
Our staff provide consultation and staff development services to schools. We are able to provide consultation and staff development on the following topics or we can work with the school to meet its specific need.

  • Bullying Prevention Program
  • Education
  • School-wide survey
  • Parent involvement
  • Student education
  • Student groups
  • Follow-up support
  • Overview of mental health issues affecting children
  • Understanding specific pediatric diagnosis
  • Effective classroom strategies
  • Positive behavioral interventions
  • Case consultation

Referral Process

Referral requests can be made by schools, parents, or other professionals. Services are currently available in the following counties:

Washington County
Services are funded by the Comprehensive Community Services Agency and the Department of Social Services of Washington County. Services are available to any school district/student in Washington county.

Ozaukee County
Services are funded by the school districts on a case by case basis.

Milwaukee County
Services are funded by a grant from GE Medical and are available at the Academy of Learning and Leadership and Capitol West Academy.
