Overview
back-to-top
The Caregiver Support Program delivers consistent support to enhance stability and successfully maintain placements for children. In addition to providing support, the Caregiver Support Program provides on-going crisis management and intervention, parenting education, and assistance for caregivers throughout reunification efforts or other permanency plan objectives, all with the goal of the best interests of the child(ren).
Why choose the Caregiver Support Program?
The Caregiver Support Program at St. Aemilian-Lakeside, Inc. is unique from other foster care based programs as services are provided directly and primarily to caregivers (foster, kinship or birth families), in an effort to achieve positive placement outcomes for children. Caregivers are more likely to maintain children in their homes when the caregivers feel heard, supported, prepared for the challenges their foster children present, and when they have an understanding of the Child Welfare System.
Who Benefits from Caregiver Support?
A variety of caregiver families can benefit t from the Caregiver Support Program, including: caregiver families of children who have had multiple placements, have a history of behavioral challenges, have complex mental or physical health needs, or complicated family or legal
situations.
Caregivers who identify the need for additional support and education to stabilize a placement
that is at-risk of disruption, to manage the child(ren) in their care, or to negotiate the complex
provider and child welfare systems. Social Workers with out-of-home care expertise provide services to caregivers in the home. These services are individualized to meet that family’s needs.
